Lara Sanchez
In the 1980’s Lara Sanchez travel to Japan to study art. Shortly after arriving, she engaged in the practice of different art forms such as Ikebana, Kooto, Tea Ceremony, and finally what became her biggest passion yet; Harie. She learned about and perfected these diverse skills under the tutelage of great mentors such as Grand Master Sen Shoshitzu of Kyoto,
Sumiko Kobayashi and Keyko Akagi of Tokyo. Throughout her four year stay in Japan, she had the privilege of becoming Keyko Akagi’s protégé, whom among these artists, is the most well-known Harie artist in Japan. Under her guidance, she was able to master this exceptionally difficult art form which requires creativity, also much concentration and above all, patience.
Upon her return to her native land of Venezuela, she opened her first Harie workshop along with her first art gallery, which quickly became the centerpiece of Harie art in that country. With highly chic and sold-out expositions, the Harie collections received remarkable reviews by the specialized art critics and the general public. The tremendous support and achievement left a clear vision that this form of art was deeply admired and welcomed in the Latin American culture. Thanks to numerous magazine articles and publicity from the press, the art’s popularity grew and became well known in other Latin American countries
In late 1996, she moved to the United States. She began a new stage in her artistic life, continuing the Harie art and adding Italian Goldsmith to her artistic background.
After some travels and being able to see the works of the greatest goldsmith artists, she found in Italy the inspiration to learn the ancient art of goldsmith. Lara attended to the “Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana in Milan, and under the tutelage of Master Luca Solari, she learned the most important techniques of this art: modeling and engraving wax, enameling goldsmith, Necklace Threading, and jewelry design.
After much hard work, she felt confident in showing her new artistic creation as well as displaying to the public new Harie collection .
She has now embarked on a new challenge, this new stage of her artistic career offers creative works for the lovers of Harie art, Goldsmith Jewelry and Bijouterie.
With newly accumulated life experiences, greater exposure to fresh styles of art, and a mind filled with innovative images, she is determined to manifest these visions into beautiful & timeless art collection.
